Assistant Director

Grand Forks Montessori Academy is in an expansion phase and looking for a qualified Assistant Director.

Candidate should:
• Hold a bachelor’s degree in ECE or related field with at least 18 credits in ECE & Child Development.
• Pass relevant background checks & have clean driving record
• Be willing and able to be a team player
• Be flexible & easy-going in a fast-paced environment
• Have excellent English and public speaking skills
• Maintain the health and safety standards as required by state law, childcare licensing, health department and fire marshall
• Maintain personal health, including being up-to-date on all vaccinations recommended by the CDC.
• Maintain confidentiality of student, family and employee data
• Maintain professionalism at all times, including off-duty representation of the school
• Be able and willing to maintain the educational environment both indoors and outdoors
• Be willing and able to cover shifts of staff on break, maternity, sick/PTO/vacation etc.
• Be able to lift up to 50 pounds
• Be able to work with children at their level/on the floor
• Be able to easily go up and down stairs
• Be able and willing to assist in the classroom as needed
• Be able and willing to assist in diapering, toilet-learning as needed
• Understand and be able to apply, demonstrate and train proper licensing protocol for the health, safety and care of children in a licensed birth-12 environment
• Share the values, mission and goals of GFMA
• Follow and uphold the Code of Ethics of International Montessori Council
• Be familiar with licensing regulations, health department regulations, fire code, and related regulations.Ideal candidate has 4-year degree in a related field with at least 18 credit hours of ECE or Child Development, AND additional Leadership Experience, as well as Business, Service and HR Experience. Those with a Bachelors in ECE or Child Development will be considered, as well as those with a CDA or nationally recognized Director’s Credential. Candidate must embrace Montessori methodology & philosophy, and be willing to engage in on-going training in Montessori, childcare development and related topics. Full-time (35+ hours) to include opening: 7:30am-3pm, with additional hours scheduled for trainings or covering staff PTO/vacation/sick time. Schedule could change throughout year as needed. Salary commensurate with experience.

Full-time Infant & Toddler Caregiver

Grand Forks Montessori Academy in Grand Forks, North Dakota is seeking SEVERAL full-time Montessori-trained child caregivers with experience to assist the 0-3 class — including our youngest infants, beginning at birth. We offer a beautiful working environment for those looking to be a part of an authentic Montessori Nido Community. Ideal candidate should be a well-rounded, professional individual; with resiliency and a sunny disposition. Individual must have a passion for Montessori and working with young children & infants. Candidate must be a dedicated, consistently hard worker, able to go the extra mile including assisting in other areas/capacities at the school as needed, capable of working with children on the floor, at their level; capable of picking-up small children, and be willing and able to maintain the environment.

Candidate should be comfortable with potty-training and understanding signs of readiness, as we are a pull-up-free environment. Ideal candidate has a Montessori 0-3 Teaching Certificate, and/or an Early Childhood Education degree or degree in a related field, and/or CDA with 4-yr degree, and embrace continued Montessori research and methodology. GFMA is willing to provide Montessori education and training to dedicated individuals with extensive classroom and childcare experience. Must hold current certification in First-Aid/CPR with AED for Infants/Toddlers, Children and Adults and complete all state-mandated childcare licensing trainings as required for working with children in a center-licensed environment.

All candidates must clear background checks, as well as have a clean driving record, be up-to-date on immunizations based on CDC recommendations, and maintain good health. Ability to speak a foreign language and/or sign language a plus. Candidate will need to fill out background check paperwork, including fingerprinting as per ND State law.

Montessori Children’s House Co-Lead & Assistant (2018/19)

Grand Forks Montessori Academy in Grand Forks, North Dakota is seeking an additional full-time Montessori-trained Guide and Assistant with experience to assist the 3-6 class. Ideal candidate should be an easy-going, flexible, confident, well-rounded, and bright individual. Co-teacher will be directly responsible to the Preschool Director/Classroom Lead, but is expected to work well with all other staff in the school as part of the GFMA family. Montessori Assistant should be familiar with Montessori, and dedicated to working as a team with their Lead Teacher and the rest of the family/staff at GFMA. Individual must have a passion for Montessori and share GFMA’s vision in providing education and care to GFMA families in a whole school approach.

Candidate must be interested and motivated by Montessori research and methodology. Must be currently certified in  First-Aid/CPR with AED for Infants, Toddlers & Adults and complete childcare licensing trainings as required by the state for working with children in a center-licensed environment.
